CallMD 24/7

CallMD Ultimate

Why would I use CallMD instead of going to see a doctor?

You want to talk to a doctor now, or it is late at night, and you can’t reach your doctor. Or perhaps you are traveling and you cannot get an appointment with your doctor for a few days. Or maybe it’s just not convenient for you to go and wait in the doctor’s office. CallMD physicians are available 24/7 to assist you, on your schedule.

What if I have an emergency?

You should contact 911 or your emergency service provider. CallMD provides only non-emergency medical services.

What are the qualifications of CallMD doctors and where are they located?

Only board certified, licensed physicians may join the CallMD Doctor Network. CallMD conducts a thorough background check on each doctor and monitors state medical boards to make sure our physicians remain in good standing. CallMD physicians are U.S. based and are licensed to practice medicine in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington D.C.

What are the typical conditions treated by CallMD doctors?

Typical conditions our doctors treat include allergies, urinary tract infections, cold, flu, sinus and respiratory infections, as well as many other non-emergency illnesses.

Can I obtain a prescription medication?

You can obtain a non-narcotic, non-DEA controlled prescription, provided the CallMD doctor thinks it is necessary. The decision to prescribe is made by the doctor after reviewing your medical history and speaking with you on the phone about your current symptoms. CallMD doctors will not prescribe DEA controlled substances.

How do I get a doctor on the phone?

Simply dial the toll free number in your membership material to arrange your doctor consultation. A CallMD nurse will answer your call, ask you about your current symptoms, take your medical history if it is not already on file, and arrange to get a doctor on the phone. As soon as a doctor is available in your state (generally within an hour), the nurse will arrange a three-way call with you and the doctor.

Why does the CallMD nurse stay on the line during the doctor consultation?

As your advocate, the nurse sends your medical information to the doctor and stays on the phone with you and the doctor to provide continuity through the consultation process. If the doctor writes a prescription, the nurse will help you get it filled and provide other assistance you may request. The nurse will also follow up with you within five days to see how you are doing.

What is the purpose of the follow-up call by the nurse after the doctor consultation?

The CallMD nurse follows up to find out if the treatment prescribed by the doctor is helping you and to ask you about your satisfaction with the CallMD service. The nurse will also discuss next steps, if any, in your treatment.

Will CallMD send the results of my consultation to my doctor or specialist?

You may request to have a record of your consultation sent to your doctor. The CallMD nurse will ask for your authorization to release the information and send it by secure email or FAX to your physician.

Is my medical information kept confidential?

In addition to your well being, the confidentiality of your medical information is a top priority at CallMD. Your information is maintained in FileMD, the CallMD electronic medical record system, and is encrypted on our secure servers. FileMD procedures comply with HIPAA, the Federal Law that protects your personal health information.

Are the calls recorded?

Yes, your calls are recorded and stored confidentially in FileMD, along with your medical information.

What if I have a pre-existing condition, am I still able to use CallMD?

Yes, CallMD is not insurance and, therefore, there are no restrictions. Anyone who is a member is eligible to use the service.

Is there a minimum age requirement?

No, however, an adult/guardian must be present in order for a CallMD doctor to treat an underage dependant.
