Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Ed Mandel, the visionary behind Americare, intends to demonstrate quality health care services can be available to anyone at a fair price. His early track record for achieving objectives is proof that he and Americare will also be successful. Prior to starting Americare, Ed founded Positive Software Systems. His ability to leverage technology to address specific market needs, set the firm apart. Before he sold the company to Concerto Software in 2005, Positive was already ranked the third-fastest growing technology company in the Dallas/Ft. Worth region.
An avid entrepreneur, Ed has a knack for designing distinctive business models complemented with superior technology to deliver unparalleled service and profitability. He is using these same attributes to fulfill the Americare mission: significantly improve the lives and health of the nation through an unparalleled, one-stop health care support center. This 2004 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist, fluent in English and Russian has achieved this goal and invites everyone corporations, organizations, associations, individuals - to take advantage of Americare's offerings.
George Willard
Chief Operating Officer
Following four years overseas service in the United States Marine Corps, George worked in the securities and life/health insurance industry as a financial planner in Honolulu, Hawaii for several years. After leaving Hawaii, he returned home to Michigan to join the Mirror Newspapers – founded by his father – in 1994, where he progressed through the ranks to lead the organization as General Manager. Following the company’s sale, George was promoted to publisher of both the Mirror Newspapers and a second of the parent company’s divisions - Specialty Communications.
In November 2002, George joined the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press as advertising director, where he oversaw both the process and personal management of print and on-line sales efforts of the organization.
Five years later, George joined Ranger Data Technologies where he served as Sr. VP of Operations, overseeing day to day operations of the software design and sales company.
In March 2013, George assumed the position of Chief Operating Officer at Americare Services where he is responsible for the company’s CallMD division.
George holds a bachelors degree in business administration, and a master's degree in organizational management. In addition to his responsibilities at CallMD, George teaches Marketing Research, Strategies in Marketing, Human Resources Management, Critical Thinking, Integrated Marketing Communications, Marketing Management, Leadership Theory and Consumer Behavior at Rochester College in Michigan.
Dr. Vinson Michael Di Santo
CallMD Medical Program Director
Dr. Vinson Michael Di Santo is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received his medical education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Phoenix General Hospital, in Arizona and post-graduate training at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.
He is Board Certified in Family Practice and Clinical Nutrition, has a Ph.D. in Oriental Medicine, and he retains Acupuncture certifications in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. Dr. Di Santo is a Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine and is a certified Bau Biology Environmental Inspector.
Over the last twenty-plus years, Dr. Di Santo has practiced, promoted and taught Integrative Medicine, along with his work in Emergency, Occupational, Environmental and Urgent Care Medicine. To further expand his medical proficiency, he has served as Medical Director, Clinical Director and Chief Medical Officer for the Federal Bureau of Prisons where he successfully instituting infectious disease screening and monitoring systems which greatly outperformed the public sector. He was also involved cutting edge work in the areas of sick building syndrome, chemical sensitivity and immunotoxicology. His extensive experience and study has earned him professional membership in numerous organizations.
Jeff S. Pierce, D.O.
Vice President - Medical Programs Development
Dr. Jeff S. Pierce is the Medical Director of the Michigan Sports & Spine Centers, PC. He specializes in a comprehensive treatment program for spine, musculoskeletal and joint injuries including sports and occupational problems. His focus for each patient is on comprehensive evaluation, proper diagnosis and individualized treatment regimens. Dr. Pierce provides an educational approach to injuries and conditions to encourage the patient to share responsibility in his or her situation. Dr. Pierce also teaches prevention techniques to prohibit further injury, empowering patients to control their recovery.
Through research and clinical experience, he has created an aggressive, non-surgical, comprehensive spine care program which has over an 80% success rate for return to work and normal function compared to the national average of approximately 50%. The program includes various treatment options, such as manipulation techniques, nerve testing, physical therapy, spinal injections under fluoroscopy and most recently, musculoskeletal ultrasound. The goal of the program is for patients to return to their optimal lifestyle.
Dr. Pierce has served three terms on the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports. He has been an active member on the task force designated to create the Prescription for Fitness for the State of Michigan. Dr. Pierce has been the Team Physician for the University of Michigan-Dearborn Athletics, Belle Tire Hockey Teams, Little Caesar's AAA Travel Hockey, the Detroit Fury and Detroit Dogs. He authors an “Ask the Doctor” column in Hockey Weekly, which has educated and advised the hockey community for nearly 3 years. He is known throughout the entertainment community as “Doc Rock,” treating entertainers who perform at Palace Sports and Entertainment and Olympia Entertainment venues.
Dr. Pierce feels it is very important to continue to educate medical students, interns, and residents. He is very proud of the fellowship/preceptorship that he has directed for 6 years. His students are working in very successful practices around the country. Under Dr. Pierce’s leadership, Michigan Sports and Spine has been the medical sponsor for the Breast Cancer 3 day (now known as the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure) since 2005. In addition, Dr. Pierce is the founder of Athletes Unlimited, a non-profit organization for the support and development of athletes with physical challenges. He works hard to educate the community on disabilities while trying to break down barriers between able- and disabled bodies. Dr. Pierce firmly believes that no active individual should be restricted by any boundary: NO LIMITS!
Dr. Pierce completed his Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine, Piscataway, New Jersey. He subsequently completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He continued with sub-specialty training in Manual/Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine which includes training in E.M.G./Electromyography, Manual Medicine and Spinal Injections. He is also involved in inpatient and sub acute care rehabilitation.
Dr. Pierce has over 15 years of experience dealing with a large variety of situations including workman’s compensation cases, auto accidents, sports injuries and rehabilitation from various injuries. He has spoken on many subjects related to PMR and sports injuries, both locally and nationally and is an Associate Professor at Michigan State University. Michigan Sports and Spine conducts a quarterly continuing education lecture for case managers. Dr. Pierce has treated everyone from professional athletes to elderly individuals. His focus is one goal: to get his patients back into the game of life.
